Smile NEW to alli ... tell me YOUR story

hello, i just started alli 4 days ago and i am wondering about peope who have used alli for a while and what kind of progress they have made. What kind of changes have you made that has helped you, do you now excersise more? I guess i'm just wondering if this is going to work? I have had no side effects on alli, if anything i feel constipated??????? Do the side effects kick in after you have used it for a few weeks or what. I would like to hear YOUR story. Thanks

Smile

Hi Vanessa, i'm on Xenical and was feeling the exact same as you, I didn't go to the bathroom for days on end, had no side effects and didn't lose a single pound. Only when I started taking a multi-vit and extra fibre every day did the tablets start to work and I lost 3lbs in a week.
You should not get any side effects if you stick to a low calorie diet, the fat will deposit in normal poos, I now go twice a day regular (sorry to be so graphic!). hehe

I also try to do 40 mins of my exercise each day, I did intend on an hour every day but 40 mins is hard enough as it is!

Hope this helps

The same thing happened to me. I expected to see "orange oil" in the toliet half an hour after I first took it. To my surprise, I didn't go to the bathroom for 3 days or so and then FINALLY it started working. The side effects have gone hand-in-hand with my eating habits. The less fat I eat, the better it is. I have had a few really fattening meals and really "paid for it".

The good news is, after 7 weeks, I'm down 15 pounds! Woo hoo!

Unhappy I gave up...

Well, needless to say...i wasnt having any luck with alli. i would try to take it for a few days and then i wouldnt be able to go to the bathroom...i stopped taking it and i am now cheating on my diet and my exercise routine is now failing...i guess i just need a little motivation..i was on a low fat diet for about 3 weeks after i stopped taking alli and lost only 4 pounds...i wouldnt consider myself that overweight , but i just want to lose the last 15-20 lbs of weight that i gained durring my pregnancies... i want to go back on alli, because it scares me into eating right and not cheating on my diet..but i just cant poop....it sounds horrible, i know , but it is really uncomfortable to go days without going, and on top of that i feel like i'm gaining weight...ANyway, i think i am going to try to stick it out and start alli again...any WORDS OF WISDOM..any suggestions would be helpful...thanks to all, vanessa

Vanessa, have you tried taking your Alli 3 times per day for a few weeks in a row? The first week I started taking Alli, I didn't go to the bathroom. Now that I take it regularly, and have been for about 6 weeks, I have no problems in the bathroom department. Maybe you are constipated because you are not taking Alli regularly. If you stop and go, stop and go, it will confuse your digestive system.

I have a protein shake for breakfast every day and add a half a cup of wheat bran. That really helps and it soaks up some of that orange Alli oil.

Also, try a moderatly low fat diet.....not a NO FAT diet....otherwise the drug won't work.

Hmmm

I probably eat 50 fat grams per day. Maybe sometimes a bit more, sometimes less. I think the more fat your eat (as long as it's not excessive) the better Alli works. I am more about portion control and not eating sugar / too many carbs anyway. I eat "what I want" for the most part, but keep the portions small. If I crave a cheeseburger, I have a small cheeseburger, but will have diet coke or water instead of coke and skip the fries. This way, my "splurge" is only about 400 to 600 calories and I have no desire to binge. If I deprive myself of everything I like, I will binge. I have learned from years of dieting, not to go overboard on "no fat" or "no carbs" etc. For the most part, I eat lost of veggies and salads with an ounce of cheese and a tastey vinagrette dressing.

I can't say that I lost weight, but when I was taking it I didn't gain anything and actually ate what I wanted. I am going to try for some actual weight loss this time!
