Do most people experience side effects?
I was looking at some of the percentages of the side effects, and it seems each side effect has much less than a 50% chance in any given person. Do most people not experience any side effects, or do most people experience at least one or more, even if not all of them?

In 5 months of taking orlistat the only side effects I have encountered is more gas than is normal for me and occasionally having more frequent bowel movements with loose stools (all manageable). I've never had any 'leakage', no oily discharge, no sudden urgency. I've also lost 41lbs whilst taking this medication and following a low fat, reduced calorie diet. The most important factor in my weightloss I believe is the change in diet, not the medication. I believe its helped me with a speedier weightloss, nothing more.

I've only been on Alli for a few days now and haven't had any scary side effects either. BUT...even though I am maintaining a lowfat diet, I have seen orange oil in the toilet. It looks like pizza oil. It's nothing I can't deal with. It makes going to the bathroom easier and it shows me that the fat is coming out of my body! LOL

I think that the fear of side effects causes people to deliberately have far less fat in their meals to try and make sure it doesnt happen. Ive only just started Alli and the side effects scare me to death so I take great care to have as little fat as possible. So I don't know if the pill works or if its the fear of the side effects! What I would dearly like to know, is how long the effects last for on average after one large meal. If anyone could advise on this it would be great. For example if I have a main meal at 7pm would I be OK at bedtime?

I almost didn't go on Alli because of all of the people making fun of it in the media and videos on youtube like "how to avoid the alli-ooops".
I am glad I didn't listen to the nay-sayers because the only "treatments effects" I've had is some orange oil in the toliet. A small price to pay for weight loss. I have lost 15 pounds in one month so far on Alli. I am eating the same way I was before taking the drug. My weight wouldn't budge at all before taking Alli, now after 4 years of trying to diet and lose weight, something is FINALLY working. I did make the mistake of having a breakfast of hashbrowns and scrambled eggs / bacon at Denny's last Saturday. I felt so bad, I took 2 Alli. I paid for it the next day with some loose stool and lots of oil, but that was my own fault. It wasn't "Uncontrollable" though, I felt it coming and dealt with it. Again...small price to pay for not having that breakfast show up on my thighs! |

If anyone out there can give me some positive feedback on the product, I am interested in trying it. I suffer from stomach problems anyway, irritable bowel syndrome, so I might not be as bothered by the side effects. Maybe it would keep me away from the fast foods and junk.
